One Earth Generation (OEG) spent Mashujaa (heroes) Day on 20th October 2025 joining hands with the residents of Kariakor Flats in a vibrant and impactful community cleanup exercise. The event, held in celebration of Kenya’s heroes, focused on honoring a new kind of hero, environmental heroes, by inspiring children and youth to take active roles in protecting and beautifying their environment.
The successful event was made possible through the commendable efforts of the Kariakor Flats Organizing Committee, under the leadership of ‘Chairman Sam’. Their coordination, mobilization of local residents, and commitment to the welfare of the community played a critical role in the smooth execution of the day’s activities.
The event brought together children, youth, and community members for a morning of hands-on cleanup around the estate, collecting litter, clearing pathways, and restoring pride to shared spaces. The young participants showed remarkable energy and enthusiasm, working together in teams and learning about the importance of environmental stewardship.
Following the cleanup, OEG held a brief session to engage with the participants. During the talk, the team praised the youth and children for their passion and sense of responsibility, recognizing them as the true Mashujaa (heroes) of the day. OEG encouraged them to continue taking ownership of their environment and assured them of continued support in future green initiatives.
