On 6th January 2025, a follow-up meeting was held with the youth group. The Ward Representative and Member of County Assembly, Mr. P.J. Okinda, attended the meeting and commended the youth for taking an active role in environmental conservation while also securing their livelihoods. He emphasized the importance of beekeeping in biodiversity conservation and assured the youth of his support in organizing a business training session to complement the technical training provided by OEG. This additional training would equip them with business management skills necessary to ensure the sustainability of their beekeeping project.
During the meeting, the four beehives were officially handed over to the youth group leadership. The group collectively decided on suitable locations to mount the beehives. This was followed by the fencing of selected areas to secure the hives and create a safe and conducive environment for the bees.
As part of the beekeeping and environmental conservation efforts, OEG supported the youth in planting 128 fruit trees in the area. This initiative aimed to enhance biodiversity, provide nectar sources for the bees, and contribute to sustainable agroforestry practices in Mundaya Village.
